Who we are

We sell school bags. That is the whole business.

The School Bag Company is a private limited company registered in England & Wales on 30 October 2024, company number 16051288. We are an internet retailer — SIC code 47910 — Retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet — operating from Unit 10 Chertsey Business Park, Hanworth Lane, Chertsey, England, KT16 9GJ.

We do not sell stationery, uniform, lunch boxes or water bottles. We sell twenty-three models of bag across four ranges, and because that is all we do, we can afford to care about the parts of a bag most retailers never mention: the density of the foam in the back panel, the stitch count on a strap anchor, whether a base can be repaired instead of replaced.

We do not run a factory and we make no claim to. The bags are made to established specifications by established manufacturers; our job is choosing which of them are worth selling, holding the stock, and standing behind it afterwards. Everything is held, picked, personalised and packed at our unit in Chertsey. When you email us you are emailing the people who packed your order, which is why we can tell you what is actually in stock and why we will occasionally talk you into a cheaper bag.

What we look for

Six things a bag has to get right before we stock it

The back comes first

We judge a backpack on its back panel and harness before anything else. A bag that carries badly is a bad bag, however good it looks in a photograph.

Empty weight matters

A bag that starts 300 grams heavier is 300 grams carried every day before a book goes in. We publish the empty weight of all twenty-three models.

Repairable, not disposable

Bases are stitched rather than welded, and on several models they are replaceable. A bag that can be repaired lasts three school years instead of one.

Sized to the child

Capacity, back length and empty weight are on every product page. A bag is chosen by measurement, not by the age printed on a swing tag.

No dark patterns

No countdown timers, no fake stock warnings, no pre-ticked boxes. The price you see is the price including VAT, and delivery is shown before you commit.

Fewer, better bags

The most sustainable school bag is the one that does not need replacing in February. See our corporate responsibility page.

How the range is organised

Four ranges, twenty-three models. The structure is deliberately flat — there are no sub-brands, no seasonal collections and no colourways that vanish in October leaving you unable to replace a lost bag with a matching one.

RangeModelsWhat it covers
Backpacks 11 Padded back systems, sized XS to 41 litres.
Bookbags & Satchels 3 Structured bags that keep books flat.
Sports Bags 5 Vented, wipe-clean kit carriers.
Accessories & Small Bags 4 Shoe bags, gadget cases and foldaways.

Backpacks — eleven models

The core of the business. The range runs from the 8 litre Kinderpak for nursery through the Minor and Junior for primary, the four-size LitePak line — XS, Small, Medium and Large — the structured SchoolPak, the wide-opening OmniPak, the split-compartment Maxi, and the 41 litre DuoPak with its external stick sleeve.

Bookbags & satchels — three models

For schools that do not permit backpacks, and for students who have simply finished with them. The Premier Folio for primary, the Prep Satchel for middle years and the senior Satchel with a 15-inch laptop compartment.

Sports bags — five models

Sized from the locker-fitting Kit Bag up to the 62 litre Hercules tour bag, by way of the Student, the wet-compartment Apollo and our most popular holdall, the Olympic.

Accessories & small bags — four models

The bags that keep the other bags clean: the Shoe Bag, the dual-purpose Boot / Gadget Bag, the foldaway Havasak, and the smart Carry Bag for senior students.

How we work

  • You order on this site

No account, no password. You give us contact details, a delivery address and any personalisation, and we generate a unique order reference immediately.

  • We confirm before we charge

A member of our team checks stock and personalisation, confirms the final total with you, and sends a secure payment link. Nothing is taken before you have confirmed.

  • We pack and personalise in Chertsey

Embroidery is added to the finished bag before it is packed, so a personalised order dispatches on the same schedule as a plain one — same working day if the order is placed before 13:00.

  • We stand behind it for one to three years

Every bag carries a warranty against manufacturing and material faults. We arrange a repair where a repair is sound and replace the bag where it is not.
